My mom and Bob are fostering her and since they don't blog I've been maintaining this blog for them so we can share some additional pictures and info about Star.
Star loves her people. She does well with all the people she has met and has become especially fond of Bob over the few weeks that she has been with them. She follows him everywhere and he calls her "Shadow."
Mom and Bob said they didn't think Star knew anything about toys or rawhides but has now begun to play with some of the toys (pulling fuzz off a tennis ball is fun :-)) and enjoys her daily rawhide along with her foster brothers and sister (two males and a female).
Star travels well and went to the car wash with Bob on Saturday. She sat nicely and even let him vacuum all around her without a fuss.
She does well with the cats in their home and does not chase them. They brush right by her and she does nothing. Her prior foster family (in Alabama) said that Star liked to chase the cats but they have seen none of that. Perhaps it's because their cats are used to dogs and don't run.
My mom says that Star will make eye contact with her when she needs to go outside. Good girl.
As part of Star's treatment she's had to stay pretty low key for the last few weeks. That has not been too hard. She does love people and will want to be where they are so if it's sitting and watching TV that's fine or having dinner outside, that's fine too.
The treatment made her pretty uncomfortable (as it does for all dogs) and she got a little grumpy a couple times when she was asked to move (off the couch or out of her crate) but they haven't seen this again recently. She is much more comfortable.
Their home is pretty quiet despite a couple cats and three other dogs. While she's good with my two daughters (11 and 13) we don't know how she would do with the activity and commotion in an active home with children. She might shy away from the activity. We don't know.
Oh- I'll add that Star has been fine with the thunderstorms that have rolled through recently. They do not upset her.
Oh- one more thing to add. She did well when I brushed her and trimmed the hair around her eyes today. Good girl! She does get tear staining which is common for light colored dogs like Bichon's and poodles. In my opinion...that's nothin'. My poodle and my lowchen-sheltie mix both had the tear staining on their light colored coats. :-)
Please enjoy this new video and some pictures.
Thanks for thinking rescue!
